Northern Exposure (4 x LP)
---------------------------------
This is copy of Northern Exposure is in the best condition of any that I’ve ever heard (and I have heard a few). Some of the tracks have absolutely no imperfections at all; others have only the very faintest of crackle, similar to that that you might occasionally even hear on a record you’d just bought and played a few times.
This is, however, NOT the original and official 1996 release, but rather the release that came out about 10 years later. Beware of sellers who try to pass off one of these re-issues as the original 1996 release that was available in HMV. There are a few giveaways (including some imperfect reproduction of the labels on some of the records themselves, but the most obvious 'tell' is that the cover of this version, the re-issue, is missing the round, black sticker that states ‘4 x LP’.
As with all the used records I sell, this LP comes with brand new MA Recordings inner sleeves (see pictures). To quote:
"These are high-quality storage solutions for vinyl records, made from soft synthetic microfibres that help maintain low static charge and reduce the risk of scratching. They are designed to be permeable, allowing moisture to escape and preventing mold buildup on the records."
No Collection; Gumtree Delivery only.
Condition
------------
Aside from the fact that all the tracks play brilliantly, I have made notes of a few of them in particular. These include imperfections I detected after listening closely to the quiet bits throughout the whole LP.
- The long intro to ‘Last Train to Lhasa’ does have the slightest bit of crackle and a few pops but nothing serious. Even this tune, though, has clearly not had many plays. Likewise for all the below...
- The long intro to 'Sound System' has some very faint crackle that comes and goes as the record plays. You don’t notice this for long though, as more elements of the tune come into the mix. By the time the beat kicks in it has disappeared and stays that way until the outro.
- If you listen very closely to the intro on 'East' and 'Water From a Vine Leaf' there is the very faintest of crackle.
- There is even less crackle on the very long intro to 'Free'.
- Both 'Free' and 'The Gloom' have a farily long scartch on each but both are merely cosmetic and do not affect play at all.
- There is slightly more crackle on 'The Gloom' but it is still very little indeed. You can still, just, notice a very occasional crackle even after the beat has kicked in, but this is probably the only track on the LP that you can say that about.
