Gaetano Donizetti: Lucia di Lammermoor
Opera based upon The Bride of Lammermoor by Sir Walter Scott, premiered in 1839.
Featuring Roberta Peters, Jan Peerce, Philip Maero and Giorgio Tozzi, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, conducted by Erich Leinsdorf.
Boxed set contains 2 records, the libretto and a portrait of Christina di Lorena (1565-1637), Grand Duchess of Tuscany. The whole set is in very good condition, the records having been recently played.
This performance was recorded in 1957 and released in stereo by RCA Victrola, Serial No. MCV 538(2), as part of their Il Mondo Del Classico (World of the Classics) series. No date of issue is given but the serial number would suggest 1971.
