The Oculus Quest 2 is a virtual reality headset manufactured by Oculus.
- This headset is standalone and does not require a PC to use.
- This headset has a high refresh rate. 120 Hz
- This headset does not require external base stations.
- This headset can be purchased with two 6DoF controllers.
Originally codenamed Del Mar, the Oculus Quest 2 is around 20% lighter and 15% smaller than its predecessor, the Oculus Quest, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, improving on the 72 Hz of the original Quest.
The Oculus Quest 2 can be connected to a PC via Oculus Link, which can be performed using the official Link cable or a third party USB-C cable. This allows the headset to be used to run content from SteamVR and the desktop Oculus store. Note that a high-bandwidth USB specification (USB 3.0 at a minimum) is required to achieve a high-quality and smooth picture.
Alternatively, the Quest 2 can be used to play PC VR content wirelessly via use of Oculus' AirLink. In order to achieve a high quality wireless experience, a high-bandwidth router is required (IEEE 802.11ax / WiFi 6 is recommended). Alternatively, the third-party application, Virtual Desktop, can be used.
Since Facebook's rebranding to Meta, the headset has been officially known as the Meta Quest 2, with all Oculus products and services being slowly rebranded under the Meta name.
