Description
Why we're selling:
I bought this because I wanted a modern, affordable EV that actually looked and drove like a proper car. It has been absolutely brilliant. The only reason we're selling is that we have a baby now, and we simply need more space for the pram and gear.
I trust this car's setup so much that we’ve actually just bought a Peugeot e-2008 for the family—it's the exact same EV battery and motor platform, just in a bigger SUV body. I’ve also been given a company car, so it's time for the Corsa to go to a new home.
A great fit if you're commuting or buying a first car
If you are sick of petrol and diesel prices remaining painfully high, this is the ultimate cost-saving runaround. It completely insulates you from forecourt price spikes.
It’s also brilliant if you're looking for a safe car for a son or daughter. Because there are no gears, new drivers can keep 100% of their focus on the road.
The safety tech is top-tier (Lane Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition), and most importantly, it has the Matrix LED headlights. These automatically shape the high beam around other cars, giving massive visibility at night without blinding anyone.
For first-time EV buyers (It's easier than you think)
Making the jump to electric can feel daunting, but this car makes it so easy.
* Realistic Range: The Vauxhall system verifies the battery is at over 90% State of Health. In winter, it comfortably does a highly realistic 160 miles. When fully charged, the dash actually shows 180+ miles, which it easily hits if you are doing mostly city driving where the regenerative braking works its magic.
* My top tip: Use the Vauxhall app to turn on the cabin heating while the car is still plugged in at your house. You step into a toasty, defrosted car on a cold morning without using any of your battery range!
Waking up to a full tank (and saving £1,000 a year)
Forget freezing at petrol stations. The best part of owning this is waking up every morning to a "full tank" right on your driveway.
* No expensive rewiring needed: I charge this almost exclusively at home using a standard 3-pin "granny charger" plugged into a normal socket. You do not need to spend £1,000+ on a fancy wallbox. Plus, slow trickle-charging is the absolute best way to preserve the battery’s health.
* The math: I charge overnight at 7p/kWh. If you drive an average of 8,000 miles a year, a year’s worth of electricity will cost you roughly £140. A standard petrol hatchback doing 45mpg at today's pump prices will cost you over £1,130 to do the exact same distance. That is a massive £1,000 a year straight back in your pocket.
* ULEZ Exempt: If you are upgrading from an older non-compliant car, you'll be saving an extra £12.50 every single day you drive into the zone.
Why the Corsa beats the Peugeot e-208
While I love our new e-2008 SUV, when comparing the smaller hatchbacks, the Corsa won hands down. The smaller Peugeot has a tiny steering wheel that you have to look over to see the dials—if you are taller, it completely blocks your view. The Corsa has a perfect, natural driving position. Plus, you simply cannot get the incredible Matrix LEDs on the Peugeot hatchback.
The spec & what I've spent on it
Because this is the Elite spec, it is fully loaded. I’ve also spent the money recently so you don’t have to:
* 4 New Michelin Tires: It just passed its MOT, and I replaced all four tires with premium 17" Michelins (literally delivery mileage on them).
* Keyless Entry & Go: The car automatically unlocks as you walk up to it and locks as you walk away.
* Winter Comfort: Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
* Tech: Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (I'm leaving the wireless dongle in the car for you).
Honest condition (Cat S)
To be completely transparent, the car is a Category S. It was professionally repaired before I bought it, and I’ve driven it for thousands of miles since with zero issues. It’s solid, feels very "planted" on the road, and drives beautifully.
Because it was our daily driver, the 17" alloys have some typical "kerb rash" and there are a few honest scratches on the blue paint (see photos). The interior is really clean and has been well looked after, but it is a used family car, so expect normal signs of use.
