VW T4 888 SPECIAL X-PACK 2.5 TDI — RARE ORIGINAL UNCUT PANEL VAN

A genuinely unusual late-production T4 and becoming extremely difficult to find in this condition.

This is a genuine 888 Special X-Pack, one of the final high-spec T4 panel vans, and importantly it remains an original uncut commercial van.

No camper conversion. No side windows cut in. Solid rear doors with no glass.

Having recently asked within a 61,000-member T4 owners’ group for other surviving uncut long-nose vans, only a handful have surfaced — and not all of those are 888 Specials. I’m not claiming how many survive, because nobody can reliably establish that, but finding another original example like this is clearly becoming difficult.

Condition

The van has been mechanically maintained and is exceptionally clean underneath for its age.

The T4 specialist who carried out the timing belt and water pump has publicly commented:

“I can confirm this is as clean underneath as it is on top.”

That’s particularly relevant with a T4, where structural condition and corrosion are far more important than cosmetic modifications.

The van has been used by DIPLOS Pizza, hence the removable business graphics shown in the photographs. It hasn’t been converted into a camper, had windows cut into the body or been subjected to the modifications that have happened to so many surviving T4s.

It presents extremely well for a 23-year-old commercial vehicle, but it’s an original working van rather than a concours restoration.
