Christania Bikes MODEL P trike cargo bike


WHAT YOU ARE GETTING

This is an original Christiania trike, made in Copenhagen Denmark. They’ve been making these since the 1970s. 

It is a three speed rear hub gear. Designated as a:

“Christiania Bikes MODEL P” 

(see full description below).

It is in perfect mechanical condition. 
This is not a new trike. There are minimal bumps and scrapes.

Over this summer I have given it a full strip down and service. New items added include:

Pedal cranks;
Rear gear cog;
Chain;
Bell; and 
Hand grips

I want to point out that the cargo box has been painted using hammerite metal paint (silver) with hammerite smooth (black) on the surrounds. This box was originally matt black.

I also added an Oxford panier rack over the rear wheel.

HISTORY

It was originally a shop display in Newcastle for two years. I bought it in early 2021. 

I have had a great time with this trike. There were three things I used it for:

To carry our two children around
Grocery shopping
Tool/material transport for my handyman business

For the last three years it has been in storage - as we now live in a flat where there is nowhere to park it. For the vast majority of it’s life, it has been kept overnight undercover/in a garage.

Over the last few months I have done another strip down and general service. I also painted the box (see above).

There is a minimum price for this listing. It is also listed on other sites so it may be withdrawn with no notice.

You are free to ask questions. You can inspect and ride the trike in person. 
A trike does not ride the same as a bicycle. Please be aware of this if you have not ridden a trike before.

COLLECT IN PERSON or arrange a courier.
You are responsible to set up a courier collection. I can help prepare the trike for any courier pick up.

Model P description - from christiania bike website:
Model P can either be equipped with a Post box. The Post box is designed with secure lockable box, which opens fully and easily by pneumatic arms. The lid, which is internally fitted with 2 gas springs, is therefore easy to lift and lower. However, instead of opening the box completely, the flap on the side will let you access the box quickly to take out a small package without lifting the lid. This model is ideal for business use such as transporting valuable goods or carrying tools.
