Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver Team Leader to join the Neighbourhood Services team in Aylesbury.

This is an excellent opportunity to combine professional driving with team leadership, helping to deliver an essential service to local communities while supporting a team of Waste & Recycling Operatives.

About the role

As a Driver Team Leader, you'll be responsible for safely operating a refuse collection vehicle while leading a crew of Waste & Recycling Operatives throughout your daily collection route.

This is a hands–on leadership role where you'll ensure collections are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard while maintaining excellent health and safety practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

Safely driving and operating a refuse collection vehicleLeading and supporting your collection crew throughout the working dayEnsuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety proceduresMonitoring safe working practices and promoting a positive safety cultureCompleting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defectsEnsuring collections are completed efficiently and on scheduleWorking closely with supervisors and colleagues to resolve any issues on routeProviding excellent service to local residents and businesses

About you

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

A valid HGV Class 2 driving licenceA valid Driver CPC qualificationPrevious experience driving HGV Class 2 vehiclesExperience leading or supervising a team, or the confidence to take responsibility for a small crewGood communication and organisational skillsA strong commitment to health and safetyA positive, reliable and professional approach Experience within waste collection, highways or environmental services would be beneficial but is not essential.
