Self-Employed Floor Sanding Assistant / Flooring Operative

Description

Restore Floor Sanders is looking for a reliable self-employed flooring assistant to provide ad-hoc support on professional wood floor sanding and restoration projects across South East London and surrounding areas.

Previous floor sanding experience is not required, although practical, construction, labouring, carpentry or flooring experience would be an advantage.

The role is hands-on and physically demanding and will include:

• Floor preparation

• Operating professional sanding equipment under supervision where appropriate

• Edging and detailed sanding

• Vacuuming and dust control

• Gap filling and basic floor repairs

• Loading and unloading sanding machinery and equipment

• Keeping customers' homes and working areas clean and organised

Applicants must be comfortable carrying and handling heavy professional equipment, working on their feet and knees for prolonged periods, repeatedly bending and lifting, and maintaining a good working pace throughout a full working day.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and punctual

• Practical and willing to learn

• Comfortable with sustained, physically demanding work

• Careful and able to work to a high standard

• Respectful when working inside customers' homes

• Responsible when handling professional tools and equipment

• Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a small team

• Interested in developing practical flooring skills over time

Starting pay is £140–£160 per day depending on experience, practical ability and suitability for the role, with further increases as skills, efficiency and responsibility develop.

Work will be offered on an ad-hoc basis depending on workload and project requirements, typically around 2–3 days per week during busier periods.

There are no guaranteed hours or fixed working days. Individual days of work will be offered in advance and can be accepted or declined.

Most projects operate approximately between 8:00am and 4:00pm, although start and finish times may vary depending on the location and requirements of each project.

Where additional time is required on a project, this will be agreed and paid separately.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

Applicants must be willing to operate on a genuine self-employed basis, including managing their own tax affairs and registering for self-employment where required.
