These are becoming increasingly hard to find in straight, unspoilt condition, and this is a very honest example for its age.
The engine starts first time and pulls well, the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, and the 4WD system operates exactly as it should. It drives well and feels solid on the road, as you’d expect from a Land Cruiser. Since it’s the GX spec, it has the wider wheel arches and side steps, plus the 5-spoke alloy wheels. It’s also got electric mirrors and electric windows all round.
The interior is clean and tidy. It’s an 8-seater and has all the seats present. You can fold the back rows flat if you’re using it for camping or flip them up to the sides if you need the boot space.
Overall it’s a very presentable truck for its age. It has the usual marks here and there as you'd expect for a 1998, but it feels solid on the road and has been dead reliable. These 3.0 engines go forever if they’re looked after.
