Japanese Polychrome Enamel Teapot, Kutani Ware Style.
For sale:
Here presents a finely crafted antique Japanese teapot. It features a bulbous, slightly flattened body, a graceful, slender spout, & a high-arching 'C' shaped handle, all finished in a striking bright orange-red glaze.
The teapot comes with its original domed lid, topped by a stylized knot or loop finial, also in the matching orange-red.
Within this scene, several figures are visible: one individual in a dark, possibly black, kimono stands to the left, looking towards a group of three other figures.
Among these, two women in vibrant green and red kimonos are seated or kneeling, engaged in an activities.
[Age]: Late 19th Century to Early 20th Century (Meiji to Taisho period, circa 1880-1920). This style of highly decorated, export-oriented ceramic ware, often with landscape scenes and extensive use of red & gold, was very popular during Japan's Meiji era.
