Year 1 1:1 Teaching Assistant – ASD Support – South Yardley

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 1 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at a welcoming primary school in South Yardley.

This rewarding role focuses on supporting the pupil's individual learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support and create a positive, inclusive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD in a Year 1 classroom

Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual learning and communication needs

Use structured strategies to support engagement, focus, and emotional regulation

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff

Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction

Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or additional learning needs

A patient, nurturing, and calm approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

The ability to adapt learning and use creative strategies to support engagement

Previous experience in a primary school or SEN setting (preferred but not essential)
