Job Title: Welsh-Medium 1:1 Teaching Assistant (ALN Support)

Location: Merthyr Tydfil

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Temporary with potential for long-term

Salary: £90 - £100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Welsh-speaking 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at a Welsh-medium primary school in Merthyr Tydfil.

This is a full-time position, working closely with school staff to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of the learner. The successful candidate will be fluent in Welsh, have experience working with children with ALN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs), and demonstrate a caring, patient, and proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ALN in a Welsh-medium classroom

Support learning through the medium of Welsh

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

Help implement the pupil's Individual Development Plan (IDP)

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Be fluent in Welsh (spoken and written)

Have experience supporting children with ALN in a school or similar setting

Hold an Enhanced DBS (or be willing to apply for one)
