Description

Join our dynamic Future U Student Support Team as a Wellbeing Officer and play a vital role in promoting and supporting positive mental health and wellbeing across our student community.

In this impactful role, you will provide tailored guidance and practical support to students facing emotional or mental health challenges, helping them to thrive during their time at UCEN Manchester.

You will work collaboratively across internal teams-including academic support, curriculum, and disability services-as well as external agencies, to ensure students are empowered with effective strategies for wellbeing and academic success.

The role involves a diverse range of delivery methods, including one-to-one sessions, drop-ins, workshops, and online meetings, ensuring accessible and inclusive support for all students.

We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw campus to join our Student Support Team as a Wellbeing Officer on a permanent, full time (35 hours per week), term time only (34 weeks) basis.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

Degree level qualification

Experience of working with adults and/or young people with mental health difficulties including assessment, advice, risk and crisis management and intervention.

Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with students, academic and administrative staff and external agencies

Evidence of working in a multi-agency or education environment.

Evidence of promoting wellbeing initiatives

Experience of managing a scheduled caseload alongside responding to people presenting in crisis.

Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and aligning your day-to-day work to the goals of the Future U Student Support Team as determined by Head of Student Advice, Support and Wellbeing

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead on relevant training and awareness-raising activities

Ability to listen and communicate with empathy

Ability to display emotional resilience when faced with challenging behaviours

Flexible, creative and solution focussed approach to completing tasks

Ability to adapt to different situations and environments; alongside effective time management skills.

Ability to work on own initiative and as an effective team member.

Excellent administration and record-keeping skills, to include IT and use of Microsoft Office.Safeguarding
