Teaching Assistant

Ideal for Psychology Graduates

Prospero Teaching is seeking a motivated and reflective Psychology Graduate to support a welcoming primary school in Tameside. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates interested in educational psychology, child development, mental health, or behaviour support. The role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, leading structured interventions, supporting pupils with additional needs, and occasionally covering classes in the teacher's absence.

Contract Details:

Location: Tameside

Position: Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Contract Type: Long–term (Ongoing)

Start Date: December 2025

Hours: Full–Time, 08:20 AM – 3:45 PM

Pay: .00 per week

Key Responsibilities – Teaching Assistant:

Classroom Support: Help deliver engaging lessons, using your understanding of behaviour and learning to keep pupils motivated and on task.

Intervention Delivery: Lead small– and large–group interventions–including literacy, numeracy, and social–emotional support–drawing on your psychology background to promote progress.

Behaviour Support: Use evidence–informed behaviour strategies to encourage positive choices and create a calm, supportive learning environment.

Support for Additional Needs: Work closely with pupils with SEN, applying knowledge of child development and learning differences.

Cover Supervision: Confidently manage a class in the teacher's absence, maintaining consistency and structure.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Psychology degree or related subject (or a Teaching Assistant qualification).

Minimum of 12 weeks' experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, tutoring, mentoring, SEN support, placements, etc.).

Up–to–date safeguarding training (desirable; training can be provided).

Eligibility Requirements:

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
