Specialist Tutor - Autism-Focused School - Shirley (B90)

Location: Shirley, Birmingham (B90)

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full-Time

Pay: From £90 per day (PAYE - no umbrella deductions)

Whether you're already working in education or seeking a new challenge, this is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist school in Shirley, known for its creative, pupil-led approach and inclusive values.

This high-dependency school provides full in-house training, hands-on support, and mentoring from experienced professionals. You'll be part of a welcoming and supportive team, delivering engaging, interest-based learning that goes far beyond traditional classroom methods.

What You'll Be Doing

Providing individualised support on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis using tailored, practical learning approaches

Delivering creative lessons based on student interests - from learning Maths through Monopoly to teaching Geography in the community

Assisting with personal care when required (full training provided)

Using evidence-based approaches such as ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) and PECs (Picture Exchange Communication Systems)

Supporting students in developing key life skills, independence, and confidence

Helping to maintain a safe, positive, and pupil-centred environment at all times

What We're Looking For

A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs

Calm, adaptable, and creative problem-solver with strong communication skills

Able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative and supportive team

Interest in SEN, youth work, psychology, gaming, or IT is a bonus - but not essential

Willingness to complete safeguarding and induction training before starting

Physical readiness for a role that involves movement, activity, and engagement (a short fitness questionnaire will be completed)

What You'll Receive

Hours: Monday - Friday | 08:00-16:00 or 08:30-16:30
