Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Area: Tameside, Greater Manchester

Start Date: Monday 15th December

Contract Type: Full–time, Term–time only (Permanent)

Salary: 525 – 600 per week (depending on experience)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

About the School:

Are you a teaching assistant passionate about supporting young people and being a positive role model in their lives?

We're working with a well–established specialist school in Tameside, which provides a nurturing and structured environment for children and young people aged 11–19 with Autism, ADHD, mild to severe learning disabilities, and associated social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The school is known for its strong supportive ethos, integrated multi–disciplinary team, and tailored curriculum that develops both academic and emotional skills. With small class sizes, high staff–to–student ratios, and a dedicated leadership team, it's a genuinely rewarding setting for professionals who want to make a lasting difference.

About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:

Support pupils in the classroom, working 1:1 or with small groupsHelp deliver engaging lessons under the guidance of the class teacherAssist pupils with additional needs, promoting confidence, communication, and positive behaviourProvide encouragement and motivation – in class, during activities, or on the playgroundAct as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils' social and emotional development

What We're Looking For:

Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people (school, youth work, sports coaching, volunteering or similar)Patient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupilsGood literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humourCommitted to inclusion and helping every child succeed

To be eligible you must:

Hold Right to Work in the UKHold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update ServiceProvide two professional child–related references
