Description

A special needs school in Hackney is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to support pupils with Autism (Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is a full–time, "temp–to–perm" position within a highly regarded Local Authority establishment.

School Overview

The school is an Ofsted 'Outstanding' special school catering to pupils aged 2–11. It is located in a modern, purpose–built facility designed to meet complex learning needs.

Class Size: 7 primary–aged pupils.

Support: 3 full–time Teaching Assistants assigned to the classroom.

Professional Development: Access to excellent induction programs and ongoing CPD training.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement personalised learning plans to promote student independence and social skills.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.

Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies to ensure an inclusive environment.

Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers to support student development.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications: Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.

Experience: Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD is essential. Previous experience in a primary setting is preferred.

References: Candidates must provide satisfactory professional references covering their recent employment or training history.

Vetting: Proven UK–based experience within the last 3 years is required for safeguarding compliance.
