The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support learning through structured routines, use visual communication strategies, and help deliver engaging classroom activities tailored to each pupil’s needs. You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team, encouraging communication, independence, and positive behaviour while delivering both 1:1 and small group interventions.

Responsibilities

Support pupils as an SEN Teaching Assistant in the classroom and during interventions

Deliver targeted support for pupils with Autism and communication needs

Encourage independence and help develop communication skills

Assist in managing behaviour using positive strategies

Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN specialists

Skills and Experience

Minimum 6 months’ experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant

Experience supporting pupils with Autism and communication difficulties

Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Ability to provide references covering the previous 24 months

Relevant qualification is desirable

Location and Package

Location: Handsworth

Salary: £95.00 - £109.25 per day

Contract role starting 01/09/2026
