SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Bedford MK40/ MK41 / MK42 /MK44

Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time / Part-time – Term Time Only

Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing opportunities available

We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support a number of welcoming and inclusive schools in the MK42 area of Bedford. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive in a supportive learning environment.

The Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide 1:1 support or small group assistance for pupils with additional needs. You will help adapt classroom activities, encourage engagement in learning, and support pupils’ emotional and social development.

Pupils may have a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN

Assist teachers with adapting learning activities to suit individual needs

Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons

Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and confidence

Help create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and school staff

Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people (school experience desirable but not essential)

Understanding of SEN or a strong interest in supporting pupils with additional needs

Patient, caring, and proactive approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, or support work are advantageous
