SEN Teaching Assistants

Location: Medway

Contract: Part time, Full time, Temporary, Permanent, Day to day

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young learners who need extra care and support? We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a range of supportive and inclusive schools across Medway. With flexible roles available, day-to-day, long-term, part-time or full-time, you can find a position that suits your availability and career goals.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs. You'll provide one-to-one or small group support, helping to create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs, adapting learning activities to suit individual needs

Assisting with classroom behaviour management, using strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement EHCPs and tailored support plans

Encouraging and motivating pupils to build confidence, independence, and self-esteem

Supporting pupils with personal care needs where required (in some settings)

What We're Looking For:

Experience working with children with SEN (desirable but not essential)

Interest or understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs

Knowledge of or interest in behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable but not essential)

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils

Up-to-date safeguarding training or willing to complete it
