Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wirral, Merseyside

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs? Do you have experience helping young people overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence and independence? Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Wirral.

About the Role:

We are seeking experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to provide targeted support to students with a range of additional needs. You'll work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping students access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEND

* Support students to access the curriculum and participate in lessons

* Assist students with communication, emotional regulation, and social development

* Implement individual support strategies and learning interventions

* Support students with EHCPs and individual learning plans

* Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours

* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

* Monitor and communicate student progress and wellbeing

What We're Looking For:

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

* A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs

* Strong communication, patience, and empathy

* A calm and consistent approach to behaviour and learning support

* Ability to build positive relationships with students

* A proactive and adaptable approach

* A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable (but not essential):

* Previous experience working within a secondary school

* Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification

* Experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs

* Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND support strategies
