GSL Education is working in partnership with an exceptional specialist school in Islington to recruit a dedicated PMLD Assistant for September 2026. The school supports pupils with profound learning difficulties, complex physical disabilities, sensory impairments and additional medical needs, providing personalised education within a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
As a PMLD Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver tailored support that enables every pupil to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role As a PMLD Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day by:
Providing one–to–one and small group support for pupils with complex learning needsSupporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation and engagement in learningAssisting with personal care and promoting dignity, independence and wellbeingImplementing communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton and sensory–based approaches where appropriateEncouraging social, emotional and physical development through structured activitiesWorking collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for every childHelping to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment where pupils can flourish What the School Offers This specialist school is committed to developing its staff and provides outstanding support, including:
