We are currently recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist SEMH school situated north of Norwich. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support children and young people who have experienced challenges in mainstream education and require a more personalised approach to learning and emotional development.
In an SEMH setting, every day brings new opportunities to make a genuine impact. You'll play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, self-regulation skills, positive behaviours, and a love for learning.
Driving is essential
You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, as the school location may not be easily accessible by public transport and there may be occasions where travel is required.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs both inside and outside the classroom
Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued, and understood
Assisting with personalised learning programmes across a range of subjects
Encouraging emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour strategies
Supporting pupils during times of dysregulation using calm, consistent approaches
Helping to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment
Contributing to pupils' personal, social, and emotional development alongside their academic progress
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional support requirements
Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and relationship-based support
Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to helping every pupil succeed
Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Our partner SEMH school, located north of Norwich, provides tailored educational pathways for children and young people who may have struggled within mainstream education settings. Supporting up to 98 pupils from Year 1 through to Year 11, the school delivers a highly personalised curriculum designed to meet individual academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
