Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Middleton. This rewarding role involves supporting secondary-aged pupils with complex additional needs, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

About the School

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD)

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Communication and sensory processing difficulties

The provision offers a structured, nurturing environment with personalised support for every learner.

The Role

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning, develop life skills, and manage emotional and behavioural challenges. The role may also involve supporting personal care needs and working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff.

What We're Looking For

Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs

Confidence managing challenging behaviour calmly and professionally

Willingness to provide personal care support

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for SEND

Desirable Experience

ASC, PMLD, CLDD, or SEMH support

Team Teach or behaviour management training

PECS, Makaton, AAC, or other communication systems

Specialist school, care, or support service experience
