We are recruiting on behalf of a highly supportive and forward-thinking specialist school that is dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential, regardless of their starting point. About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), severe learning difficulties, and additional complex needs. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN needs.

* Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development.

* Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes and EHCP targets.

* Use specialist SEN strategies and tools such as visual timetables, sensory integration approaches, and communication aids.

* Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour throughout the school day.

* Support pupils during classroom learning, outdoor activities, sensory sessions, and therapeutic interventions.

* Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

* Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews.

* Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority at all times.

Essential Requirements

* Experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties.

* Understanding of SEN support strategies and interventions.

* Calm, patient, and caring approach with excellent teamwork skills.

* Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

* Full Right to Work in the UK is essential.

Desirable Skills & Experience - NOT ESSENTIAL

* Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.

* Experience using PECS, Makaton, or AAC communication methods.

* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection within specialist settings.
