SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: WD19, Watford Area (Hertfordshire)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Start Date: ASAP

Are you a passionate and patient SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Do you want to work in a supportive and inclusive school environment where every child is valued?

Uniform Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in the WD19 area. The school caters for pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and physical or sensory impairments.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Support pupils with additional learning and communication needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis

* Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons

* Use strategies such as visual supports, Makaton, PECS, and sensory activities to promote engagement and progress

* Provide personal care and mobility support where required (training provided)

* Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in all pupils

* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to achieve EHCP targets

* Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For:

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (essential)

* Knowledge of Autism, MLD, or SLD (desirable)

* Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting pupils’ learning and development

* Excellent teamwork and communication skills

* Willingness to assist with personal care and manual handling (training can be provided)

* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education)
