SEN Teaching Assistant

The school is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide full-time support to children with special educational needs for the duration of the academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a caring and collaborative team, helping to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

If you have experience supporting children with ASD, particularly non-verbal children, ADHD, or SEMH needs, this could be the ideal position for you. Training in PECS is desirable but not essential.

Job Summary

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (must be flexible to work with a range of year groups)

Location: Romford - easily accessible by car (on-site parking) and local transport

Pay: From £90+ per day (PAYE)

Start Date: October 2025

Duration: rest of academic year

Hours: Full-time, term time only

Requirements

Experience supporting children with:

ASD

ADHD

SEMH

Desirable: Training or experience in PECS

Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs

Ability to follow guidance from teachers and the SENCO while working effectively within a team

Compliance Requirements

Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Full CV covering employment history with explanations for any gaps

Legal right to work in the UK

Two professional references covering the last two years

Proof of address and original identification for safeguarding checks
