Description

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting on behalf of a well–established specialist primary school that provides high–quality education for pupils aged 4–11 with autism and complex needs.

The school is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Primary Class Teacher to join their team on a full–time, on a temporary to permanent basis.

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Contract Type: Temporary to permanent

Location: Streatham, Southwest London

Start Date: September 2025

Pay: According to your teaching scale

The Role

The successful candidate will lead a small class of pupils with a range of needs including autism, communication difficulties, and learning challenges. They will be responsible for planning and delivering a personalised, engaging curriculum that meets both academic and developmental goals. The role includes working closely with a team of experienced teaching assistants and collaborating with therapists and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high–quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs

Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Monitor and assess pupil progress in line with EHCP targets

Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external specialists

Support the emotional wellbeing and personal development of pupils

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)

Experience working with children with autism and complex needs (in either mainstream or specialist settings)

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

A positive, flexible, and resilient approach

Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
