Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire

Salary: £100 - £105 per day

Start Date: September

Aspire People are delighted to be partnering with one of our welcoming primary schools in Hinckley to recruit an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September.

Are you a Psychology graduate or someone with a strong interest in Special Educational Needs? Do you want to gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs before pursuing a career in education, psychology, or therapy? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEN team to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them to build confidence, develop independence, and reach their full potential.

Your Responsibilities:

Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups throughout the school day.

Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and learning styles.

Promote positive behaviour and encourage emotional wellbeing.

Help pupils develop communication, social, and life skills.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and differentiated learning.

Work alongside SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest level of support.

About You:

Hold a minimum 2:2 undergraduate degree, ideally in Psychology or a related discipline.

Have previous experience working with children or young people through schools, tutoring, care, coaching, youth work, or voluntary roles.

Feel confident supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

Sensory processing needs and associated behaviours

Are compassionate, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.

Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.

Can commit to working full-time, Monday to Friday.
