Location: Alvaston, Derby

Contract: April 2026 - July 2026

Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

Setting: SEMH Secondary School KS2 - KS4

About the Role

An inclusive SEMH secondary school in Alvaston, Derby is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support TA from February 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning.

The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across KS2 or 3/4

Deliver behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

Provide 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support

Implement behaviour plans and risk assessments

Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and engagement

Uphold safeguarding and welfare procedures

The Ideal Candidate

Calm, resilient and nurturing, with experience supporting SEMH or SEN pupils. xjnqpsq Confident managing challenging behaviour and building strong relationships.

Essential Requirements

SEMH/SEN/PRU or alternative provision experience

Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge

Strong behaviour management skills

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
