Protocol Education is looking for an enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Gateshead from September.

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with young people and has the confidence to get involved both inside and outside of the classroom.

The school has high expectations for its students and places a strong emphasis on literacy, academic achievement and positive relationships.

Role Details

Full-time

September start

Monday-Friday

8:30am-4:30pm

Term-time only

Long-term role with permanent opportunities

What makes this role different?

You'll be much more than classroom support.

You'll be expected to actively participate in school life, including:

Joining students during breakfast club

Supporting students during lunch

Getting involved in social activities

Building relationships through positive interactions

Supporting learning within lessons

Helping students improve their reading and writing

Providing feedback on students' work

Encouraging students to stay focused

The school has a strong focus on literacy, so you'll play an important role in helping students improve their spelling, written communication and confidence with reading and writing.

We're looking for:

Ability to maintain professional boundaries

Resilience and patience

Genuine enthusiasm for working with teenagers

Whether you're an experienced TA or have transferable experience from youth work, sport, care, mentoring or another people-focused role, we'd love to hear from you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
