Your Role This September:

As a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant, you'll become a key figure in one pupil’s school life—offering encouragement, structure, and the tailored support they need to thrive.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1:1 Support – Work closely with a child with additional needs (such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or global developmental delay), helping them access learning and navigate the school day.

Adapt and Assist – Modify activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and learning style, ensuring they’re included and engaged.

Calm, Consistent Support – Respond to challenges with patience and understanding, using clear boundaries and positive reinforcement.

Build Trust – Be a reliable, caring adult in the child’s life—offering emotional support, encouragement, and structure.

Behaviour Guidance – Use gentle, effective strategies to support positive behaviour and help the pupil self-regulate when needed.

Celebrate Progress – Be there for the little wins and big breakthroughs. Your presence can help unlock a child’s potential.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

Has experience (or a passion to gain experience) working with children with additional needs in a school or care setting.

Is calm, consistent, and emotionally aware—able to build a positive bond with one child over time.

Understands the importance of routine, patience, and positive reinforcement.

Communicates clearly with staff, parents, and the child themselves.

Holds (or is willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS check.

Brings empathy, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude to every school day.
