Primary Teaching Assistant – Full-Time/Temporary

Location: Newton Abbot and nearby areas

Pay: £90 – £100 per day (weekly pay through PAYE)

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for long-term opportunities)

Teaching Personnel is working closely with welcoming and supportive primary schools in the Newton Abbot area, and we’re looking for friendly, caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting class teachers with creative, engaging lessons

Working closely with pupils who may need extra support – either 1:1 or in small groups

Helping children grow in confidence, both academically and socially

Assisting with reading, phonics, numeracy, and classroom activities

Creating a warm, safe and inclusive space where all children can shine

This Role is Perfect For:

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who want to gain valuable classroom experience

Graduates or students studying education or child development

Individuals returning to work or exploring a new career path in schools

Anyone with a calm, nurturing and positive approach to supporting children

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with children (in a school, nursery, tutoring, or youth work) is ideal – but not essential

A can-do attitude, a warm personality, and a genuine love for working with young learners

A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

Availability for full-time work during school hours

Willingness to travel to primary schools across Newton Abbot and surrounding areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
