KS1 Teaching Assistant

Nottingham City Centre, NG1 (commutable from Sneinton, Mapperley, West Bridgford, Carlton, Beeston)

110– 120 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full–time, long–term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Nottingham City Centre from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting children during the early stages of their primary education. Working alongside experienced teachers, you will help create an engaging and nurturing learning environment, supporting pupils to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to flourish both academically and socially.

The school is looking for someone who is patient, proactive and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 1, working closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessonsDeliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematicsReinforce classroom learning through creative, practical and interactive activitiesSupport pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriatePromote positive behaviour and encourage independence, confidence and resilienceAssist with classroom preparation, displays and learning resourcesMonitor pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to the class teacherBuild positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues to support children's developmentThis is a varied role that offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's educational journey during this important stage of learning.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary schoolExperience supporting Key Stage 1 pupils is desirableLevel 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageousKnowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc. is beneficialExperience supporting pupils with SEND is desirableExcellent communication and behaviour management skillsCaring, reliable and committed to a long–term role
