Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – East London Schools

Location: East London (Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, and surrounding boroughs)

Position: Full–Time, Term–Time Only

Salary: GBP85–GBP100 per day (dependent on experience)

Start Date: September 2025

We are currently recruiting Maths Graduate Teaching Assistants for a number of welcoming and high–achieving secondary schools across East London. This role is perfect for aspiring teachers or graduates with a strong academic background in Mathematics.

About the Role:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, youll work closely with the Maths department, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and occasionally KS5). Youll assist in delivering lessons, work with pupils who need extra support, and help raise attainment in maths.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Maths teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management

Provide 1:1 and small group interventions for students who require additional help

Assist with exam preparation, homework clubs, and enrichment activities

Adapt resources and strategies for pupils with SEN, EAL, or low confidence in numeracy

Encourage a positive, growth–focused attitude toward learning maths

Ideal Candidate:

A recent Maths or STEM graduate (2:2 or above)

Excellent communication and numeracy skills

A passion for working with young people and helping them succeed

Patient, proactive, and adaptable

Previous experience in a school or with children is desirable but not essential
