Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Primary School based in Accrington

Contract Type: Part-Time (3 days per week)

Salary: £14.50 - £18

Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will work across the school to support teaching and learning, lead planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher, and contribute to the development of pupils academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver planned lessons to whole classes in the absence of the teacher.

Support pupils in achieving learning goals across a range of subjects.

Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and prepare learning activities.

Provide targeted support for individuals and small groups, including those with SEND.

Assist in the assessment and recording of pupil progress.

Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities where appropriate.

Person Specification:

Essential:

HLTA status or equivalent qualification.

Experience working in a primary school setting.

Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.

Ability to lead whole-class teaching confidently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.

First aid training.

Familiarity with assessment tools and tracking pupil progress.

Working Hours:

3 days per week (specific days to be agreed)

Term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
