Teaching Assistant – SEN School (Ystrad Mynach)

Location: Ystrad Mynach

Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Start: September 2026

Progression: Opportunity to move onto a permanent contract with the school

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel are seeking enthusiastic, patient and committed Teaching Assistants to support a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Ystrad Mynach. The school caters for pupils aged 3–19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs, including ASD, complex needs, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent school contract for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or within small groups

Assisting with classroom activities and differentiated learning

Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and emotional needs

Using positive behaviour support strategies

Assisting with personal care (if required)

Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff

Helping create an inclusive, safe and engaging learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with children or young people (school, nursery, youth work, care, SEN, etc.)

A passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

Calm, patient and adaptable approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A willingness to undertake relevant training (provided by Teaching Personnel)

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
