Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Flexible Teaching Assistants to work across secondary schools in the Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire area. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to build experience in education, whether you're an aspiring teacher, psychology graduate, or someone with a background in youth work.

Responsibilities of the role:

Support students in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.

Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with additional needs, including SEND.

Assist with behaviour management, lesson engagement, and student wellbeing.

Work flexibly across subjects and year groups, depending on school needs.

Roles available for day-to-day supply, short-term cover, or long-term placements.

Desirable Experience:

Experience working with children or young people in any setting (school, youth club, care, tutoring, mentoring).

Knowledge or interest in supporting pupils with special educational needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH).

A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, education studies, psychology) is advantageous but not essential.

Previous school or classroom-based experience is desirable but not required.

A successful educator will:

Be able to stay calm and supportive, especially when working with students who need extra help or display challenging behaviour.

Be comfortable working across different subjects, year groups, or supporting students with varied needs.

Understand and supports the emotional, social, and academic needs of young people.

Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to help create a positive learning environment.

Bring enthusiasm and encouragement to lessons, helping to boost student motivation.

Help maintain a calm and focused classroom by reinforcing school expectations respectfully.

Proactive in supporting lesson delivery, preparing resources, and stepping in where needed.

Open to feedback, training, and ongoing development to improve their impact in the classroom.
