Facilities Technician

Location: Hackney

Salary: £100 - £130 per day

Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education London Branch are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and reliable Facilities Technician to join a welcoming coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is a great role for a proactive Facilities Technician who enjoys working in a school environment and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient site.

As a Facilities Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school site. The ideal Facilities Technician will be hands-on, organised, and committed to ensuring the school environment is safe and well-maintained for students and staff.

This Facilities Technician role is perfect for someone with previous site or maintenance experience looking for a long-term opportunity within education. If you are a dependable and motivated Facilities Technician, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities Include:

Assist with the general maintenance of the building, ensuring a clean, safe, and secure environment.

Provide support and an effective and efficient service to members of staff, students and visitors

Undertaking maintenance work to keep the building, furniture and fixtures and fittings in good working order; using advanced DIY level skills in all trades including joinery, building work, electrics and plumbing.

Operating and maintaining plant and machinery, subject to appropriate training including air handling, air conditioning, pumps, electrical and heating systems, BMS, access control, kitchen equipment.

Assisting with weekly testing of the fire alarm system and participating in evacuation drills; this will include use of the Evacusafe fire evacuation chairs (training to be provided.

Ensuring deliveries are received, recorded and delivered within the Academy

Requirements:

Previous experience working as a Facilities Technician or in a similar role

Basic knowledge of maintenance, repairs, and health & safety procedures

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and use initiative

Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
