Description

Title: Deputy Club Manager

Reports to: Club Manager

To assist the Club Manager in the day to day running of Club, ensuring the provision of high quality childcare in line with the Club's charitable aims, including the planning and preparing of a programme of activities that enhance the learning and development of children in our care.

To take responsibility for overall running of the Club in the absence of the Manager, including effective management of a team of playworkers, accurate completion of necessary paperwork and follow up of administration commensurate with the role.

Responsibilities

To assist the Manager in implementing and delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.To assist the Manager to ensure that staff are operating within the legal framework.To have particular regard for Safeguarding of children in the Club's care, to ensure that child welfare and safety is promoted within the setting, and that any child protection concerns are appropriately acted upon immediately, in line with the York Childcares Safeguarding Policy.To assist the Manager and staff team to plan a diverse range of structured and free–play activities and resources for children of all ages attending the club, including Holiday programmes. To have regard to ensure that all activities reflect positively the linguistic, religious, and cultural diversity of the community. To lead on ensuring that staff are appropriately involved in and help children lead their own play.To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents / carers to ensure that every child's learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs.To establish and maintain children's learning journals for your own key children, to ensure observation and next steps in learning reflect high aspirations for children.To ensure that the health, safety and welfare of children and all adults affected by the setting and its activities are maintained. To ensure that all accidents or near misses and hazards identified in the course of their work are reported and dealt with effectively in accordance with the York Childcare's Health and Safety Policy and risk assessment findings.To assist the Manager in implementing actions following regulatory inspections and visits.To demonstrate a high level of professionalism always.

Duties:

To take a lead role in encouraging staff to make the most of appropriate opportunities to become involved in and help children lead their own play during the day to day operation of the club.To take a lead role in the delivery of the EYFS, as applicable to the setting, and the club's ongoing compliance in response to any changes and updates to the statutory Framework.To take a lead role to ensure that daily checks are completed and findings acted upon appropriately, including that equipment is well maintained and safe to use, that good hygiene standards are followed and policies are being followed in line with the York Childcare's Operational Plan.To take a lead on the management of the children register for all children attending club, ensuring it is up to date and that contact records are accurate.To take a lead role in the planning of meals, ensuring snacks are nutritious, balanced and take into consideration any dietary and allergy needs of children in Club's care. To take responsibility for the purchasing of food stuffs ensuring that spend is within budget.To take a lead in the purchasing of play equipment and materials to enable effective delivery of the play programme, as agreed with the Manager and staff team.To assist the Manager in the review of Risk assessments and risk assessments for outings outside of the setting.To assist with reviews and evaluations of the setting to ensure continual development and improvement.

Responsibilities in the Absence of the Manager

In the absence of the Manager to ensure the staff team work together to provide children with high quality play opportunities, and that staff time and skills are deployed to offer children the attention, stimulus and support that will ensure opportunities for continuity and progression in play.In the absence of the Manager to carry out monthly staff supervisions and annual appraisals in line with York Childcare Policy, to identify ongoing training and professional development and to ensure that accurate records are maintained.In the absence of the Manager, to facilitate staff meetings on a regular basis.To carry out efficiently any other reasonable duties as required.
