Job Title: Behaviour Mentor – PRU (Pupil Referral Unit)

Location: Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £85 - £115 per day (based on eperience)

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only | Temp to Perm Potential

The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about supporting young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs?

We are recruiting a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to work within a specialist PRU setting in the Chesham area, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time position supporting students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

You will be working closely with pupils aged 11–16, helping them develop social skills, emotional regulation, and a positive attitude to learning.

Your Role Will Include:

Building strong relationships with pupils based on consistency, trust, and respect

Providing in-class and out-of-class support to help manage behaviour and engagement

Supporting pupils in regulating emotions using de-escalation and calming techniques

Working closely with the SENCo, Behaviour Lead, and external agencies

Contributing to behaviour plans and supporting positive change

Delivering small group and 1:1 mentoring sessions

About the PRU:

This is a specialist setting that offers a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Staff are committed to offering therapeutic support, academic progression, and life skills to prepare students for reintegration or next steps in their education.

Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience in a PRU, alternative provision, or with SEMH/behavioural needs

Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively

A trauma-informed, resilient, and empathetic approach

Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude

Team player with commitment to inclusion

DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
