Description

An outstanding primary school in Sefton is seeking to appoint a skilled and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to work across the whole school. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to deliver targeted interventions and provide high-quality support to pupils with autism and associated needs.

The Role

• Deliver targeted interventions to pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across EYFS, KS1, and KS2

• Provide 1:1 support tailored to individual EHCP targets and learning needs

• Work with small groups to develop communication, social skills, and emotional regulation

• Support pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs

• Implement structured intervention programmes and track pupil progress

• Promote and maintain outstanding behaviour through consistent application of the school’s behaviour policy

• Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and wider staff to ensure a cohesive approach to support

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or above desirable)

• Has strong experience supporting pupils with ASD and SEMH needs within a primary setting

• Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills and a consistent, calm xjnqpsq approach

• Has experience delivering interventions and measuring impact

• Is confident working across different age groups throughout the school

• Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to inclusive education

Requirements

• References covering the last 5 years

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Relevant safeguarding training (or willingness to complete this)
