Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Derby (mainstream primary schools)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Supply/Temporary. Part time and full time hours available

Pay: £90–£95 per day

About the Role

The Supply Register are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants with strong Autism (ASD) experience to work across mainstream primary schools within the Odyssey Collaborative Learning Trust.

Work is available in Spondon, Chaddesden, Alvaston and Allestree, with placements such as:

1:1 support for pupils with autism

Classroom-based SEN support

Roles within a school’s Enhanced Resource Facility (ERF)

You’ll support pupils with communication needs, sensory needs and structured learning approaches.

What We’re Looking For

Applicants must have:

Experience working in a UK school (ideally primary, within the last 2–3 years)

Strong experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASD

Knowledge of strategies such as visual timetables, PECs, sensory regulation, social stories, or structured teaching

Flexibility to work across different schools

Requirements

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service xjnqpsq (or willing to apply)

SEN/TA qualifications desirable but not essential

Ability to follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
