Description

Leader Education are recruiting for an Autism Support Assistant, for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) school near both the Bedlington and Amble areas.

This position creates a fantastic opportunity for classroom development and a great way to get further exposure and experience within education. Leader Education can offer free training and continued personal development courses to further enhance the successful candidate's skills and training. This role will include working with children from Key Stage 1 through to 4 and will involve working 1:1 and in small groups. It is important for applicants to have had recent experience or a good knowledge on how to support children with complex needs. It is desirable for applicants to be able to drive for this role.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

An enhanced DBS on the update service, or the willingness to obtain one

An ability to follow instructions, school's policies and procedures

The ability to work well in a team and be able work with others in a collaborative manner

A genuine interest for the wellbeing of all children

To ability to support the teacher with planning lessons and activities within the educational setting

A proactive personality and can assist with the preparation of materials for lessons

Skills such as providing good communication towards staff members, parents, and carers

Support the students with their individual needs

Maintain the cleanliness and keep the student's environment safe and clear
