Description

Prospero Teaching is looking for passionate and dedicated Alternative Provision Tutors to support children and young people across Bournemouth and Christchurch. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work 1:1 with students who require additional support to engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

As an Alternative Provision Tutor, you will support learners who may be out of mainstream education, Children Looked After (CLA), or those with SEND, SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, anxiety, or other barriers to learning. You will deliver personalised Functional Skills and Life Skills sessions designed around each student's individual needs, abilities and goals.

Working in homes, community settings, children's homes or alternative provisions, you will create engaging learning experiences that promote confidence, independence and academic progress. Building strong relationships and providing consistent encouragement will be key to helping students re–engage with education.

Your responsibilities will include planning and delivering tailored tuition sessions, assessing learning needs, monitoring progress and completing weekly reports on achievements and development. You will work collaboratively with families, local authorities and education professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each learner.

We welcome applications from qualified teachers, tutors, learning mentors, teaching assistants, youth workers and other professionals with experience supporting children and young people. Experience within alternative provision, SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, intervention programmes or pastoral support is highly desirable. Qualifications such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent are advantageous but not essential.

The successful candidate will be patient, adaptable and passionate about helping vulnerable learners succeed. Excellent communication skills, strong safeguarding awareness and the ability to build positive relationships are essential.

This flexible part–time position offers ongoing work and competitive rates of pay between 25 and 30 per hour. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are beneficial due to the nature of the role.

To be eligible, candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK, hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, provide two child–related professional references and have a minimum of one year's experience working within an educational setting.

Joining Prospero Teaching gives you access to free accredited CPD, safeguarding training, ongoing professional development and dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment team.
