A 2014 JDM Subaru WRX STI (VAB) . The VAB model for the 2014 JDM market is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Some earlier STI models featured 2.0-liter engines, but the VAB's FA20DIT is different from the older EJ20 or EJ25 engines. The VAB WRX STI is designed with a focus on performance, with features such as all-wheel drive, uprated brakes, a six-speed manual transmission, and a unique body kit. JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) models have DCCD. These feature Driver-Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD), which allows the driver to adjust the power distribution between the front and rear wheels for different driving conditions. Interior upgrades include an STI-exclusive gauge cluster, unique shifter knob, Recaro bucket seats. The car's design reflects its rally-bred roots, with a firm ride that provides excellent body control and grip, particularly at higher speeds. Considerations for JDM imports Reliability The 2.0L engine in this JDM STI model is generally considered more reliable than the 2.5L version. Boxer rumble JDM models with equal-length exhaust headers do not have the traditional Subaru ""boxer rumble"" sound that is characteristic of unequal-length headers on other models but the superior strong ej207 engine gets the Vote Every time .
