Description
Amazing sounding 80s British speakers in good condition and full working order. They have been re-capped with film capacitors. I don't have the grilles for them unfortunately.
The 737R was the middle model in the 5 speaker Mission range when it was introduced in 1985, priced at £210 a pair (about £650 in today's money). They are a 2 way design using what was a revolutionary SEAS polypropylene mid/bass driver, developed for Mission, and a Vifa soft dome tweeter. Power handling is 120W, impedance 8 ohms, sensitivity is 89.5dB/W/m so they go loud with ease.
The original electrolytic capacitors in the crossover were a long way out of spec, so I have upgraded them to modern film capacitors, which has not only restored the balance but given them greater clarity and detail in the high frequencies than they would have had new. They have a forward sound with great presence and transparency whilst remaining smooth. Music leaps out of them, and they suit exciting genres like rock and dance.
They have some minor signs of age and use, but are in good overall condition.
I am happy to demonstrate and I have a wide range hifi components for sale including suitable stands.
