Description

Iconic omnidirectional speakers from the 90s in very good condition and full working order.

Canon Audio introduced a range of designer omnidirectional speakers in 1995 and the S70 was the pinnacle of the range, priced at £700 a pair. They feature a a downward firing full range driver, firing on to die cast metal lens flares, with subwoofers built into the bass of each speaker. They create a wide and even spread of sound across a room.

There are some minor scuffs and wear, but these are much better than most sets out there.

Canon S‑70, 2‑way wide‑dispersion (WIS)

The Canon S‑70 is the flagship model in Canon’s Wide Imaging Stereo (WIS) loudspeaker family. It uses a coupled‑cavity bass system and a shaped acoustic mirror to disperse the output of its 17 cm woofer and 13 cm mid/high driver across a broad listening area. The tall cylindrical enclosure and heavy cast‑metal base are characteristic of Canon’s WIS design language, combining sculptural styling with wide‑dispersion acoustic behaviour.

Compared with the smaller S‑50, the S‑70 offers greater bandwidth, higher power handling, and more authoritative bass. A passive equalisation network inside the base shapes the response of the full‑range system; no conventional crossover is used.
