About the Client/Child: Pete is well known to Snap Care and has been supported by us since infancy. He lives with his parents and younger brother in a fully adapted home and has a dedicated 1:1 support team (day and night), alongside a private therapy team focused on rehabilitation.
Pete is an outgoing, happy and energetic young boy who loves singing, music, sensory play and being outdoors. He enjoys wheelchair walks to the local park, people-watching and feeding ducks. Pete has Cerebral Palsy affecting his overall development; he is a wheelchair user and requires support with moving and handling and encouragement with eating. He is verbal and communicates using speech, PECS, some Makaton and “now and next” boards, supported by Speech and Language Therapy.
The Role at a Glance: Shifts begin at 2.00pm with preparation of activities and supper, followed by collecting Pete from school using his WAV. Some days include extracurricular activities or therapy appointments, following a structured weekly schedule.
A key part of the role is implementing Pete’s therapy and rehabilitation programme in a fun, creative and engaging way. Pete enjoys silly interaction and benefits from confident, playful support. You will also encourage positive interaction with his younger brother. The role includes supporting Pete with personal care, self-help and independence skills, evening routines including bath time, and completing a handover with the waking night carer at the end of shift.
This Job Would Suit: A fun, creative, bubbly and confident SEN Support Worker who is keen to learn new skills and develop their experience, particularly within therapy-based support. If you love to laugh, sing, dance and bring energy into your work, this is the role for you.
Why You’ll Love This Role: Everything! Supporting Pete is an absolute joy. He is full of mischief, will keep you on your toes, and will make you laugh and smile every day. This role comes highly recommended by current Snap Care Support Workers and offers excellent training, ongoing supervision and continuous support.
