The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Site Agent / Project Manager to join a major infrastructure project in the Peterhead area.

The client is flexible and will consider candidates looking for either a permanent position or a long–term contract opportunity.

This is a substantial heavy civil engineering package forming part of a major energy infrastructure programme, with significant construction activity and a strong pipeline of work in the region.

The role will suit someone with a strong background in earthworks, heavy civils and major infrastructure who can take responsibility for the delivery of significant construction packages.

The Works

Major earthworksBulk excavation and cut & fillGroundworksSite preparation and enabling worksAccess roads and haul roadsDrainageSite compounds and associated infrastructureUtilities and service installationsReinforced concrete and structural civilsKey Responsibilities

As Site Agent / Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of your section of works.

Duties will include:

Managing major earthworks and heavy civils packagesCoordinating site engineers, supervisors, foremen and subcontractorsPlanning labour, plant, materials and site resourcesManaging bulk excavation, cut & fill and groundworks operationsOverseeing access roads, drainage and associated infrastructureProducing and reviewing RAMS and construction documentationMonitoring progress against the construction programmeIdentifying and resolving potential programme or delivery issuesManaging subcontractor performanceEnsuring works are delivered to drawings and specificationsMaintaining high health, safety, environmental and quality standardsManaging quality assurance and project documentationAttending progress and coordination meetingsLiaising with clients, designers and other project stakeholdersSupporting commercial teams with variations and changeDriving packages through to completion and handoverExperience Required

We are looking for candidates with proven experience delivering heavy civil engineering and earthworks projects.

Relevant experience could include:

Major earthworksBulk excavationGroundworksRoads and infrastructureDrainageEnergy and power infrastructureSubstationsUtilitiesWind farm infrastructureHighwaysMajor enabling worksReinforced concrete worksCandidates should have previous experience operating at Site Agent, Senior Site Agent, Construction Manager or Project Manager level for a civil engineering contractor.

Qualifications

A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is required.

Candidates should also ideally hold:

SMSTSCSCSFirst AidTemporary Works experience/qualificationStrong technical understanding of civil engineering constructionGood knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirementsThe Candidate

You will need to be technically strong, commercially aware and capable of taking ownership of a substantial construction package.

You should be comfortable managing engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, plant and site operations while maintaining programme, quality and safety standards.

Previous experience delivering large–scale earthworks or heavy civils packages for a recognised civil engineering contractor would be particularly advantageous.
